What is DNA Barcoding?

DNA barcoding is a standardized molecular technique that uses a short, conserved DNA sequence (~400–800 bp) from specific genes to identify species rapidly and reliably – similar to a universal "barcode" for life. It enables species authentication even from fragments (leaves, roots, tissues, larvae, processed products) where morphology fails, supporting global databases like BOLD Systems (animals) and GenBank.

We use Sanger sequencing for gold-standard accuracy on individual samples, with options for high-throughput or custom markers.
